Landscape architects create the landscapes and plan, design and manage open spaces including both natural and built environments. Their work provides innovative and aesthetically-pleasing environments for people to enjoy, while ensuring that changes to the natural environment are appropriate, sensitive and sustainable.
Responsibilities of Landscape Architect:
- Establish general landscape requirements with clients and confer with clients, engineers and building architects to understand a project;
- Match the client’s wishes with your knowledge of what will work best;
- Prepare site plans, specifications and cost estimates;
- Coordinate the arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures;
- Prepare graphic representations of proposed plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software
- Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs;
- Analyse environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage;
- Inspect landscape work to ensure that it adheres to original plans;
- Contact and coordinate manufacturers and suppliers;
- Carry out site visits;
- Liaise with other professionals on the project;
