Landscape architects create the landscapes and plan, design and manage open spaces including both natural and built environments. Their work provides innovative and aesthetically-pleasing environments for people to enjoy, while ensuring that changes to the natural environment are appropriate, sensitive and sustainable.

Responsibilities of Landscape Architect:

  • Establish general landscape requirements with clients and confer with clients, engineers and building architects to understand a project;
  • Match the client’s wishes with your knowledge of what will work best;
  • Prepare site plans, specifications and cost estimates;
  • Coordinate the arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures;
  • Prepare graphic representations of proposed plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software
  • Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs;
  • Analyse environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage;
  • Inspect landscape work to ensure that it adheres to original plans;
  • Contact and coordinate manufacturers and suppliers;
  • Carry out site visits;
  • Liaise with other professionals on the project;
